“Stop screaming you silly woman.” Amélie grabbed the woman and shook her trying to shut her up. “I swear I don’t know how someone like you became a police officer? Listen to me. I need to speak with Officer Robert Malfeti now!”

“What’s all the commotion out here?” Seeing the woman standing at the desk covered in blood, the Captain rushed out to make certain she was okay. “Miss are you alright?”

“I’m fine but I need Malfeti now.”

The minute he saw Amélie covered in blood, he ran over to her worried that she’d been hurt. “Amélie? Oh my God are you hurt?”

“No but Carmichael will be when I get my hands on him. The bastard has worse aim than my grandmother. Robert there’s three people dead over on Canal Street, and it’s all my fault. I didn’t take that bastard seriously. I never thought he would blatantly go against Tony and would be too much of a coward to deal with me face to face.”

“You’re sure you’re not hurt?”

Amélie smiled at him sadly, you could always count on family to worry. “I don’t think so but you need to go arrest Carmichael, Johansen, and Storm.”

“Storm? Come on Amélie are you sure it was Storm?”

Amélie glared at him for doubting her. “I will never forget the look on his face when he realized I was the target, or when he missed me and hit that little girl. They killed a child Rob, a child. She couldn’t have been more than six years old.”

The Captain looked over her shoulder at someone standing in the shadows behind her. “Clark get over here.”

“Yes Captain Anderson?”

“Take this woman to the locker room so she can clean up. Make sure she isn’t hurt, and Clark…”

Amélie leaned towards the poor officer to whisper teasingly trying to lighten the mood. “This is where he tells you not to let me out of you’re sight.” He looked like he was about to be sick, his face had gone completely green and she felt sorry for him.

“Watch her.”

Clark frowned at her trying valiantly to get himself under control. She could tell he didn’t approve of the way she was handling the situation. “Who is she Captain?”

“She’s the…”

“I’m the witness to a triple homicide.”

“But…”

“Next he’s going to tell you that I was the intended victim. Because we all know that will make all the difference in your willingness to guard this big fat know-it-all, smart ass of a woman who just happens to be covered in blood. Well you can forget it, I don’t need you.”

“Well young lady since you’re not my Captain and I always follow my Captain’s orders you’re stuck with me. Now move.”

One look at this cop and she knew her defensiveness would snap him out of his shock state. Besides she enjoyed making him angry, if let her forget for just a while the horrible massacre she’d caused.

“Amélie please, for once in your life just listen and do what you’re asked.”

“Find me someone else Rob, someone more comely or even happily married. I’ve had it up to my ears with single good looking men.”
